Geograph - photograph every grid square

Before the Second World War, Walton Wood covered what is now a NS3678 : Field near Walton Farm. As noted there, the wood also extended along the western edge of an adjacent field. That strip of former woodland is shown in the present photograph; it is still clearly distinguishable from the more level surface of the rest of the field.

Carman Hill is placed slightly to the right of centre in the background, with the high ground of Overtoun Muir and then Bromley Muir to its left.
