CIC Hut, Ben Nevis, in 1975
The hut was built in 1928-29 by the Scottish Mountaineering Club as a memorial to Charles Inglis Clark who died in the First World War, son of William and Jane Inglis Clark, both prominent mountaineers at the turn of the 20th century. It has been extended over the years and is available for accommodation by members of mountaineering clubs, though bookings are needed well in advance. See NN1672 : CIC hut Ben Nevis for an up-to-date photograph. Its history and much more is given in ‘Ben Nevis – Britain’s Highest Mountain’ by Ken Crocket, SMC Trust 1986.
