This mill is of interest to me as the original home of the fine Whitmore & Binyon horizontal single cylinder engine at the Museum of East Anglian Life - TM0458 : Whitmore and Binyon Horizontal Steam EngineTM0458 : Whitmore and Binyon Horizontal Steam Engine. The engine was in the projecting house on the right hand mill building, which was a more modern roller mill. The water courses imply that the original water powered mill was in the building on the left. The miller's house is rather fine and implies a prosperous business. The cross of St George probably signifies some important sporting event.
TM3056 : Watermill, Wickham Market, Suffolk Rackham's Mill had auxiliary steam power in the single storey builing projecting towards the viewer. The engine was built by Whitmore & Binyon of Wickham Market and is on display at the Museum of East Anglian Life, Stowmarket. Well worth a look.
