TR1457 : Site of Black Friars Gate

taken 14 years ago, near to Canterbury, Kent, England

Site of Black Friars Gate
Site of Black Friars Gate
Sorry Beautiful Nails but this is not a picture of your building. It shows the plaque above the door marking the site of the Black Friars Gate, one of the gates within, as opposed to through, the city walls. The gate was taken down in 1787. The Friars street name is also a clue. This part of the city was occupied by the Black Friars, Dominicans.
