Holy Cross Church, Ryton
The architecture of the Church is Gothic, and the spire is 120ft high. It was built in three stages, is octagonal, made from oak and covered in lead. The stained glass windows are believed to date from 1450. There is a detailed archaeological assessment of the C13th church and its churchyard by Peter Ryder from 1993 here
