NZ2655 : Birtley Station (remains), with Diesel-hauled Down express

taken 60 years ago, near to Birtley, Gateshead, England

Birtley Station (remains), with Diesel-hauled Down express
Birtley Station (remains), with Diesel-hauled Down express
View southward, towards Durham, Darlington, York etc. on ex-North Eastern East Coast Main Line, also towards Consett via Ouston Junction. This station was closed on 5/12/55 and in 1965 appeared to be a private house. The lines on the right are the Slow lines. The Down express is headed by a Type 4 Diesel, unidentified. [Note: the photograph submitted previously, my SO4963 : Berrington & Eye station (remains), was NOT of Birtley - and remains a mystery].
