Gaol Ferry Bridge - Avon New Cut - Bristol
As the name implies, it replaced a rowing boat which used to carry passengers between Southville, on the south bank, and the large Victorian gaol which once occupied the north bank, and of which only the entrance gateway still exists. The remains of the ramp down to the old ferry stage can be found in the undergrowth adjacent to the church. It is an important crossing point for pedestrians and cyclists.
