Hagg Bank Bridge
Hagg Bank Bridge
Hagg Bank Bridge (known locally as Points Bridge) over the River Tyne is an fine early example of its kind and once carried the Newcastle to Carlisle railway. Later, more famous, examples include the Tyne Bridge at Newcastle and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The railway closed in 1968; the bridge is now used by Hadrians Cycleway (National Cycle Network route 72) and lies within the Tyne Riverside Park.
