Cheddleton Flint Mills
The south mill, on the right, was originally built as a corn mill; corn was ground on this site from at least the 13th century. In the late 18th century there was a need for finely ground, calcined flint in the pottery industry. The north mill (left) was built for that purpose and the south mill converted at around the same time.

There is now a museum on the site; entry is free but donations are welcome - see LinkExternal link .
