Looking north-east along a narrow arm of the lake. The slender tree seen in silhouette on the left is an alder - like most of the trees along the lakeside.
In the London area this was only the second really sunny day of the year. If we get a bright day in January (and it is a big if) the light from the low sun can be crisper than at any other time of year.
