View SE, towards Mullingar and Dublin; ex-Midland Great Western, Dublin - Mullingar - Sligo line. Until 31/3/59 the narrow-gauge Cavan & Leitrim Railway terminated here from Cavan via Ballinamore. On 3/6/93 - just before I took this photograph - the C. & L. was acquired by a Preservation group, who have restored the C&L station and begun to reopen the line. [More details?]
