Onecote Chapel
Onecote Chapel
The inscription at the apex of the porch reads "Primitive Methodist Chapel erected AD 1822". Primitive Methodism started about 20 km away on SJ8557 Mow Cop in 1807. The inscription over the door reads "This porch was the gift of Misses H & EA Deaville 1934". These two deavilles would not have got away with concrete blocks after 1951 when the Peak District National Park LinkExternal link was created. Compare with SK0454 : Onecote Telephone Exchange just up the road - a building remarkably similar is size and shape - where the planners insisted upon stone.
