East Gate, Studley Royal
East Gate, Studley Royal
The East Gate is the main entrance to Studley Royal deer park from the Ripon direction. It dates from c1730 and frames Ripon Minster in the distance, and Blois Hall [SE3472] beyond if conditions are clear. The detailed work over the arch and side gateways is known as vermiculated rustication. Walls either side link to two single storey lodge cottages.
