Bantham Folly, Belsay
Bantham Folly, Belsay
This "ferme ornée" folly can be viewed from close by Belsay Castle. It is on private land. It is not part of the Belsay Park property administered by English Heritage. It is not open to the public. Nearby OS placenames of "Bantam Wood" and "Bantam Hill" suggest alternative spelling.

The following description was copied from the Parks and Gardens UK website:
"Bantham Folly was created around 1769. It is an ornamental building made up of a mixture of georgian and gothic styles. It has a crenellated parapet and a quatrefoil window which opens into a pigeon loft. Until the mid-20th century it had a wooden spire."
