taken 15 years ago, near to Blo' Norton, Norfolk, England

You can see the auxiliary pulley at the base, this mean an external engine (first steam, later oil and diesel) drove a hurst frame in the bottom.
TF3344 : Maud Foster Mill - Hurst Frame
Thelnetham mill is a small towermill built around 1819, it replaced an earlier postmill which was moved to Diss. When built it had common sails (cloth) with overdrift millstones. Thomas King, a local carpenter, records that the mill was begun in 1819 and 'set to work on Christmas Day Dec.25 1819'
Modernisation in 1832 added a steel windshaft and underdrift stones, probably with the governors. From 1892 a portable steam engine was used to drive a hurst frame. 1914 saw a Hornsby engine run the hurst frame.
The mill was used until 1924.
In the late 1970s before conversion to a house was put forward the site was bought for restoration by volunteers of the Suffolk Mills group.
It is now open on the second Sunday of the month May - October.
