Rolls-Royce RB211 high-bypass ratio gas turbine (turbo-fan) of a three shaft design. Although almost bankrupting R-R during development it is now a commercial success story and powers many of the world's large aircraft. Unfortunately the museum is to close for an unspecified period at the end of March 2011.
