SU4827 : River Itchen lock

taken 10 years ago, near to Compton End, Hampshire, Great Britain

River Itchen lock
River Itchen lock
This is the site of a former lock on the erstwhile River Itchen navigation, with the brickwork for the lower lock gates to the left and the upper section just behind us to our right. I cannot work out the brick structure to the right though; it seems to be some sort of bywash but it would flow into the lock that it is supposed to be bypassing.
