SU8819 : Obelisk, Cocking Causeway

taken 17 years ago, near to West Lavington, West Sussex, England

Obelisk, Cocking Causeway
Obelisk, Cocking Causeway
Inscription reads 'Free Trade, peace and goodwill among nations'. Erected to the free trade advocate Richard Cobden who was born to a struggling farming family in the area and eventually settled at Dunford House a mile from this obelisk. As yet I haven't been able to find a date for its erection.
