Tardebigge Tunnel, Worcestershire
Tardebigge Tunnel, Worcestershire
This shows the south-west portal of the tunnel. The tunnel is 530 yards (485 metres) long, and is wide enough for narrowboats to pass each other, with care! The Worcester and Birmingham Canal, started in Birmingham in 1792, reached Tardebigge with the opening of this tunnel by 1807. There are three other tunnels.
The other end of this one is just discernible in the gloom.

This portal is a Grade II listed building.
