This was taken on the west Pier, and the 5 steel posts are the remains of piles that supported a platform when the piers were rebuilt. Maybe removing them was too difficult or they were kept for future use. Any ideas welcome !
Maurice Budden says the posts were to support a fishing jetty which is incomplete as funds were insufficient to complete it.
