taken 20 years ago, 4 km N of Clapham, North Yorkshire, England

Gaping Gill main chamber
Gaping Gill main chamber
Gaping Gill's main chamber, during the 2006 August bank holiday winch meet of Craven Pothole Club. The main shaft is top centre, with the Rat and Mouse waterfalls entering on the left. The floor is littered with small rocks and muddy clay. The cavern regularly floods to a depth of 60 feet. The floor of the cavern is 360 feet below the surface of the moor above it.
