Black Park: the south-east corner, not far from Dracula's castle
Black Park, managed by Buckinghamshire County Council, covers an area of 530 acres, much of which is - or was - conifer plantation. The rather low ecological value of conifer plantations is now well recognised, and efforts have been made to re-instate areas which were formerly heathland.
Much the busiest area of the park is around the lake, in the south-west corner. The south-east is less accessible from the road, and less frequented - as seen here. Pinewood Studios lie very close by (in TQ0183) and parts of the park can be spotted in many British-made films, especially the old Hammer series:
TQ0183 : Excuse me - is this the right road for Castle Dracula ?.
