Christ Church, Walmsley
Walmsley Christ Church, formerly known as Walmsley Chapel, was consecrated in 1840 as a chapel in the township of Turton in the parish of Bolton-le-Moors. It was actually the re-building on a new site, of an ancient chapel originally situated about one mile to the north on a road which was formerly the main road between Bolton and Blackburn. When digging for the foundations of this new chapel, a pre-historic burial was discovered on the site; probably from the Bronze Age. The modern churchyard is extensive and has approximately 2300 monuments. (LinkExternal link )

The site also has the parish hall and a junior school.
