SD8096 : Source of the River Ure

taken 13 years ago, 4 km NW of Cotterdale, North Yorkshire, England

Source of the River Ure
Source of the River Ure
This is the true source of the River Ure, which turns into the Yorkshire River Ouse. The picture is taken of the first bit of running water as it issues from a boggy patch high up on Lunds Fell. The River Ure picks up various tributaries from the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, becoming the River Ouse that flows through York. After over 100 miles it joins the River Trent / Humber confluence.
