SJ9870 : Stream gate

taken 8 years ago, near to Macclesfield Forest, Cheshire, Great Britain

Stream gate
Stream gate
Wildboarclough owes its name not animals but to the stream - the seemingly sleepy Clough Brook is prone to dramatic flash floods when it becomes a raging torrent: the "wild bore". The last major flood in the 1980s washed away roads and bridges and caused significant damage.
The gate serves the dual purpose of controlling stock and catching debris that could cause damage if washed further down.
