taken 14 years ago, near to Bourne, Lincolnshire, England
Stop Valve sign and cover
The water distribution on a housing estate has a number of stopvalves which can be used to isolate leaks, or in extremis cut off domestic supplies while allowing standpipe distribution. The principles are similar to fire hydrants.

TF0820 : SV cover in road surface for one of the associated covers
Blue SV signs identify the location and serial number of the valves and the distance to them. This particular pair of signs, one long vandalised, refer to the SV cover in the pavement and three more in the adjacent road surface.
