Ruthin Gaol
This old prison dates from the late 18th century, when it replaced an even older building, but a major new wing was added in 1866. Although it closed as a prison in 1916 and now houses the Denbighshire county records office, parts of the original cell blocks have been opened to the public giving an insight into life in a Victorian gaol.
