Remains of a timber pond
The area that is shown, right of centre, in the foreground, was the south-western end of an old timber pond, now evident only as a dark line heading out from the shore, directly along the line of sight. Then, at what was once a corner of the pond, it makes a turn towards the left.

That offshore side would originally have been about 150 metres long, but only a very short section of it is now visible. For more details, see the main description: NS3974 : Remains of a timber pond. That photograph (which also discusses what can be seen in the background) was taken from on top of an embankment, while the present photograph was taken from the shore.
Remains of a timber pond

Only faint traces now remain of a late nineteenth-century timber pond that formerly extended for about 150 metres along the Clyde shore between Levengrove Park and Sandpoint.
