Marston Marsh comprises 26 hectares of floodplain grazing marsh on the northern side of the River Yare. The numerous marsh dykes are managed on a rotational basis and the grass is grazed by cattle. There are also several areas of damp woodland and five wildlife ponds. The willows are pollarded. Species of interest which can be found here include water voles, otters (unconfirmed), orchids, as well as general marsh flora, dragonflies. The marsh is used by geese in winter.
