Beaumont Quay
Beaumont Quay
When the original London Bridge was demolished in 1831, flagstones from the bridge were used to build this quay, which was completed in the following year. It was constructed by governors of Guy's Hospital, who owned land in the parish. A 1km canal was cut in Landermere Creek to enable vessels to reach the head of the creek, where the quay is located. The quay was used mainly to send agricultural produce from Essex into London. It ceased to be used in the mid-1920s.

The quay can still be accessed by small craft on a rising tide, but care must be taken because of overhead power lines that cross the canal with an air draught of about 8 metres.
