One of the many relics from the mining industry that once worked this area.

Mike Shaw has made this comment:

Horrified to find that you have (presumably) been fooled by a howler in my book Lead Copper and Barytes Mines of Shropshire into believing that the apparent shaft cap in the photo below is mining related. It was the top of a small reservoir and was replaced a few years ago with a lower structure. My only excuse is that it adjoins a small trial mine and someone told me that that was what it was and I never checked the information!. A reprint is due shortly with the howler removed.
