Geograph - photograph every grid square

This pipeline runs inland from the Cliffe dredger pier. Cliffe Pools came about - for the most part - as a result of clay workings, and the area of open water was once more extensive than at present. Since the 1960's dredgers have moored at the pier to pump their load ashore, with the result that some former pools have been filled in. From my own experience I can say that the area seen to the left of the pipeline was much wetter as recently as 15 years ago.

This shot was taken from a spot close to the seawall, looking ESE across the grid-square from its western margin.
