The houses at Scows
A contrast of architecture.
Upper Scows, left, is a traditional old Orkney dwelling, brought up to modern standards.
The Norwegian-style house, possibly Lower Scows, is of the newer generation of Fjogstad-type kit homes. Properly placed, these mellow into the landscape really well, quite unlike the startling, pale, 'square', harling-homes that have become so common here.
