Knockshinnoch Lagoons
One of the lagoons viewed from a birdwatching hide at this nature reserve near New Cumnock. It was created from an old coal shale bing, and now provides several lagoons and marshy areas. The main part of the old bing is being re-vegetated by birch, willow and rowan. Some bare spoil waste still remains.
