TQ3979 : River Thames reeds

taken 9 years ago, near to Blackwall Tunnel, Greenwich, Great Britain

River Thames reeds
River Thames reeds
When the flood defences were improved around the Greenwich Peninsula for the Millennium Dome, the opportunity was taken to create a habitat on the eastern side, half way up the wall which would be flooded at high tide. This has now been colonised by reeds as seen here. Beyond is Antony Gormley's sculpture of Quantum Cloud and to the left of that is the QEII Pier.
