Gates near Hepple
Gates near Hepple
Early-C20th gates to Holystone Grange. The piers are rusticated and topped by ball finials. Grade II listed.
They are dwarfed by what might be a Wellingtonia, or Sequoiadendron giganteum, the largest trees in the world. They are native to California, but were brought to the UK in the mid-C19th and no doubt snapped up by the aristocracy as the latest must-have for their country estates.
