SD4889 : Erratic boulder below Helsington Church

taken 14 years ago, near to Brigsteer, Cumbria, England

Erratic boulder below Helsington Church
Passed on the footpath down to Brigsteer. It looks like Silurian rock, possibly from the region immediately across the Lyth Valley, and is sitting on younger Carboniferous limestone. Inevitably, the local sheep use it as a scratching post hence the worn area around it.
