The knitwear shop is re-using a former weighbridge, which would have been used to weigh commercial vehicles transporting goods from Tarbert Harbour.
To weigh vehicles, they would be driven onto the steel plate in front of the building, then once loaded they would be driven on again, the weight of goods would be the difference in the two readings, this would be administered from the white building which is now a shop.
