The ground floor showing how boats are suspended from the ceiling. In the foreground is the steam launch Waterlily. Built 1866 by J I Thornycroft of Chiswick. She was placed in store by the National Maritime Museum for some years but the opening of the Falmouth branch allowed her to go back on display. She is the only steam vessel displayed here.

I think it is very sad that our National Maritime Museum has so little material on powered vessels beyond models and words. The Greenwich branch used to have appropriate material on display but it is now either in store or at Markham Grange Steam Museum in Yorkshire.
