Richard Andrews memorial in East Park, Southampton
Richard Andrews (1796-1859) was five times Mayor of Southampton and the owner of a coach building business on Above Bar Street. The statue which was unveiled in 1861 was the work of Benjamin Brain, a stonemason from Shirley. It was designed by Philip Brannon. The pedestal was removed in 1971 as the Bath stone had weathered badly. The statue was restored and placed on a new plinth in 2000 LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
