Pitlochry Hydro-electric dam
Pitlochry Hydro-electric dam
This dam on the River Tummel holds back the water that forms Loch Faskally. The 15MW generating station attracts lots of visitors, many coming to see salmon using the fish ladder, the lower part of which can be seen bottom left, to bypass the dam on their way up the river to spawn.
The Pitlochry dam houses the furthest downstream of the nine power stations that make up the Tummel hydro-electric scheme.
