Tyneham: Bond memorial in the church
Tyneham: Bond memorial in the church
One of a few memorials to the Bond family, who were lords of the manor here at Tyneham from the mid-1600s until the Army requisitioned the parish in 1943 for its firing practice. The residents envisaged returning to the village at the end of the War, but the area remains a firing range to this day and the houses are mere shells now.

The parish church is now an interesting exhibition about the people of Tyneham and life in the village. The names of the families are depicted in the mural that runs along the walls throughtout the church - visible at the bottom of the picture.
