The Skirrid Inn, Llanfihangel Crucorney
The Skirrid Inn, Llanfihangel Crucorney
An imposing red sandstone inn with a lot of history, claimed to be a rallying point for the forces of Owain Glyndwr in 1404 before their successful raid on the walled town of Abergavenny, as well as being a courtroom in later centuries where local cases were heard, with maybe as many as 180 convicted felons reputedly being hanged in the stairwell over the years. Ghostly goings-on are claimed. Today it is just a special and memorable stop-off point for a pint and a snack maybe after a walk in the nearby Black Mountains. Don't know if I would like overnight accommodation!
