Heron Quays, London Docklands
Heron Quays, London Docklands
Heron Quays on the Isle of Dogs lie to the south side of the Canary Wharf complex. This former dockland area was regenerated in the 1980s and 1990s, having lain derelict for a number of years previously.

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) was opened in 1987, to serve this growing area, and has expanded rapidly since then. The DLR is a self-contained railway with trains which are driven automatically.

A London Underground extension was opened in 1999 to serve Canary Wharf. The low arch at the end of the dock is the entrance to Canary Wharf Underground station.
