Allt Creag nan Gobhar, Cranstackie
Below the Cambrian quartzites which form Beinn Spoinnaidh and Cranstackie (Lower Cambrian Eriboll Group, approx. 520 million years old) lie the basement Lewisian gneisses which are approximately 2.6 billion years old. They have seen several episodes of deformation, and the structures seen in this burn are probebly around 1.6 billion years old, dating from an episode known as the Laxfordian event.
