Placed here in 1977 to celebrate 500 years since Edinburgh's markets were re-organised by James III.
Grassmarket

Grassmarket is the site of an old market square below Edinburgh Castle. From the 15th to 20th centuries a market was held here, as were public executions. The area has recently been redeveloped and is mainly pedestrianised. Cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants predominate.
