taken 14 years ago, near to Horsley, Northumberland, England

Valley of the March Burn, west of Rudchester
Valley of the March Burn, west of Rudchester
Photo taken from Hadrian's Wall Trail, just visible on the right, below the Military Road. It has been suggested that the Roman Fort of Vindobala at Rudchester may have been sited to control an ancient prehistoric routeway along the March Burn heading for fords across the River Tyne at Heddon on the Wall or Newburn although nothing of this route is visible today.
