A Portsmouth bus at The Hard (1)
Taken in April 1973, this photo shows Portsmouth Corporation Transport bus No 254 (ERV 254D) in crimson and white livery about to leave The Hard on route 143. It is a Leyland Atlantean with Metro-Cammell 76-seater bodywork dating from 1966 and allocated to Eastney Depot LinkExternal link refers. The lamp standard on the left was formerly used for trolleybus wiring until July 1963. A modern light standard has now replaced it. HMS Victory can be seen in the distance.
