SK1879 : New growth on the moor

taken 10 years ago, near to Abney, Derbyshire, Great Britain

New growth on the moor
New growth on the moor
A fence is keeping sheep off this part of the moor and I suspect that the ground has been harrowed or dragged to expose old seeds to light. Hence the wonderful display of flowers; heath bedstraw, sorrel, willowherb and others. On the other side of the fence where sheep still roam there was only a boring cover of grasses. Trees are also growing in this conserved area.
