Breakwaters on Shanklin beach
Breakwaters on Shanklin beach
Breakwaters on the beach at Shanklin, Isle of Wight.

Visible just behind the first breakwater is a pipeline. This pipeline crosses the English Channel on the sea bed. It was installed during the Second World War, and was used for supplying fuel to armed forces in combat in northern France.
